We watched AI agents get incredibly good at drafting contracts, negotiating terms, and personalizing agreements. The missing piece was always the end: a human needed to actually sign something, with legal weight, knowing exactly what they were agreeing to. Atlas is that missing piece.
Our story
We co-founded Accountable to solve financial operations for vacation rental property managers — a messy, fragmented space where trust between operators and guests depended entirely on contracts. We built tools to automate lease generation, reconciliation, and reporting. Through that work, we got very close to the signing workflow that underpinned everything.
By the time AI was transforming how those documents got drafted, the signing layer hadn't kept up. DocuSign still required account setup, template configuration, and manual PDF handling. There was no concept of agent identity. No diff visibility. No way for a signer to understand that an AI had proposed a specific change and here is exactly what that change was. We built Atlas to be the signing API that the AI age actually deserves: simple, transparent, and built for code. Pass the original and proposed text for AI-drafted contracts, or upload any existing PDF. Atlas handles both with a full cryptographic audit trail and zero friction.
The team

Shaan Franchi
Co-Founder & CEO
Four years in fintech at Goldman Sachs, Marcus by Goldman Sachs, and Clarity Money gave Shaan a deep understanding of financial infrastructure. After co-founding Accountable — a fintech platform serving hundreds of property managers — he turned to the next hard problem: making AI-generated contracts legally binding. Cornell University.

Aviraj Singh
Co-Founder & CTO
Avi founded and led engineering at a seed-funded startup for three years, and built systems at Amazon before that. As CTO of Accountable, he designed payment infrastructure handling millions in transactions. At Atlas, he's applying that same rigor to signing infrastructure for the AI era. UC Berkeley.
Investors
We're fortunate to be building with investors who believe the way AI and humans work together is about to change fundamentally.
